Gemotions

He leaned against the brick wall, the cold seeping through his jacket. He was supposed to be meeting Rachel at this bar. He'd arranged for a special occasion. He ran his hand through his hair, a gesture that did little to calm the tightness in his chest. The anticipation made him feel jittery.

He glanced at his phone again, the screen illuminating his anxious expression. He hated being kept waiting. He had a growing sense of dread, a feeling he couldn't explain. The dim lighting, the distant rumble of traffic - everything seemed to magnify his unease.

Then, he saw her. She was walking towards him, but she was with a man. He stopped, his breath catching in his throat, and the world seemed to still. He saw the other man's face shift from confusion to realization, and his own face went numb. The air suddenly became heavy, oppressive. His mouth went dry.
